That journey invariably requires compromises in design for the sake of regulations and production... + continue reading

Saturday, 17/08/13 - 0 comment(s)
Hyundai has been kind enough to loan us a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid for a week and let us put the car through its paces. We immediately packed it to the gills and headed south to Hatteras NC on the Outer Banks. Thirteen hours and 482 miles later we were rolling into the Seaside Inn and we did it all on a single tank of gas. Not only that, but we... + continue reading

Ford has chosen to take on the Toyota Prius juggernaut head-to-head by stealing Toyota's playbook. If you've ever been to Europe, you'll know that diesels dominate the landscape. And not just at truckstops. Gasoline costs upwards of $7000 dollars a gallon in Europe, or so I'm told, so fuel efficient diesels are quite popular. For years, the story on this side of the pond has been just the opposite, with cheap gas pushing diesel cars... + continue reading

I went to press event last week, the International Motoring Press Association’s annual “Spring Brake”, where members (journos and their ilk) got a chance to sample a passel of cars on a beautiful spring day. There was plenty of juicy metal on offer, from the menacing Nissan GTR, Cadillac CTS-V, and Chevy Camaro Hot Wheels Edition... + continue reading
Fiat 500e
Tuesday, 21/05/13 - 0 comment(s)
The Fiat 500e is a "Compliance Car," which is a polite way of saying, "we built this car so that we can continue to sell petrol-burning cars in California." In other words, it's Fiat Chrysler's broccoli, but I'm here to tell you that broccoli never tasted this good. Seven Minutes in a Fiat 500e from john... + continue reading
